The building on Amiryan Street 2, has a great history starting from 1869. From the day it was built to 1936 it served as an educational institution for gymnastics classes. Afterwards it was converted to the Avetik Isahakyan library. We wanted to incorporate a bit of the vast history of the building in our modern design. For that reason we included elements of the previous purpose of the building: the library, into our new design of the interior.
As you enter through the main door, the space is divided into two sections symbolizing the noise of the street and the comfort and calmness of the inside. The ceiling lighting consists of many randomly hung lights, covered with a metal net creating the illusion of a night sky with stars shining. The space includes large floor to ceiling glass windows on the facade that help in providing natural light. The left side from the entrance is completely designed in accordance with Holiday Inn’s standards and requirements. It houses the reception area, meeting zones. Throughout the design we incorporated book shelves and designated reading areas in site of the previous purpose of the building. This creates a library-like atmosphere. Also, there are reading spaces where visitors can read any book they want electronically.
