The Minassian Apartment

The requirements for this project was to place two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen in 64 sq m. As the apartment was in an already existing building, our ability to perform structural changes were limited. Nevertheless, it became possible to adapt the floor plan to our design.  The apartment was to have modern conveniences while at the same time containing armenian historical elements. To this end, armenian cuneiforn scripts from the Urartu period were incorporated in the design of the interior. The inclusion of these scripts accentuates the presence of our historic roots in our daily life.

Lakeside House (1)

The plan to build a summer residence near Lake Sevan gave us the opportunity to design a building that highlights the magnificent views of the lake. The result was a structure that extends in a long tunnel towards the direction of the lake, as if placing it in a frame. The main entrance starts at a long corridor that leads to the kitchen, the living room, and the bedrooms. The eastern façade of the living room is formed of glass windows that extend from floor to ceiling. The northern façade is a solid wall made of local stones; the absence of openings in this wall protects the building from the strong northern winds.
