The Tantushyan Residence is located in the village of Arzni and covers an area of 1,000 sq.m. The previous owners of this land started a construction project and left it unfinished with a large hole in the ground. We were challenged to use that hole to our advantage which has become one of the key elements of our design. We designed the house with two stories and a sunken mansard floor.
On the first floor fitted on the ground level, we accommodated the living room linked to the kitchen and dining room, grandparents' bedroom, and outdoor kitchen. We placed the chain of main bedrooms below the ground level to utilize the hole to our advantage. For the natural lightning of the bedrooms, we made floor-to-ceiling windows and with the help of a partly green staircase, we connected the area to the garden.
